Dr. Fernanda Barros is a pediatric ophthalmologist in Girona, specialized in strabismus and pediatric eye disorders. In addition, at Oftalis – Institut d’Oftalmologia Clínica Girona, she provides personalized and comprehensive care for children and young patients with special ophthalmic needs. Her approach combines clinical experience, continuous training, and the use of advanced techniques, thus ensuring the best possible care for her patients.

Dr. Barros earned her Medical and Surgery degree at the National University of Córdoba in 2014. She later completed her ophthalmology specialization at the Clínica Universitaria Reina Fabiola, obtaining her specialist title in 2018 and finishing as chief resident of the ophthalmology department. During this period, she developed a special interest in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

She completed rotations in hospitals and specialized clinics, such as the Pediatric Ophthalmology Service at the Municipal Children’s Hospital of Córdoba and the clinic of Dr. Marta Zelter. Furthermore, in 2019, she received an extramural fellowship focused on vascular pathology of the orbit and eyelids in children, combined with a Fellowship in Retinopathy of Prematurity at the Ramón Carrillo Maternal-Neonatal Hospital in Córdoba.

To further her training, Dr. Barros completed a Master’s in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, where she expanded her knowledge in strabismus and other pediatric eye disorders. Currently, she combines her teaching activity with clinical practice, providing diagnostic and treatment services at Oftalis.

At Oftalis, patients benefit from comprehensive care, including treatments for strabismus, chalazion surgery, and monitoring of common pediatric eye conditions. She also participates in research projects and continuous training to ensure the use of the most up-to-date techniques.
