Dr. Joel Roura is an ophthalmologist in Girona, specialized in medical retina, cataract surgery, and general ophthalmology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and, after passing the MIR exam, he began his training as a specialist in Ophthalmology at Bellvitge University Hospital. This center, moreover, is a national reference hospital (CSUR) for the treatment of intraocular tumors and hereditary retinal dystrophies, and therefore treats highly complex patients.

Throughout his career, Dr. Roura has completed numerous specialization courses and continuing education programs. Thanks to this, he has kept up to date with advances in the specialty. In addition, he has participated as a speaker at various national and international congresses focused on the retina and ophthalmology in general.

Furthermore, he is an active member of the Catalan Society of Ophthalmology (SCOFT) and the Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society (SERV).

Currently, he works as an attending physician in the medical retina department at Figueres Hospital (Fundació Salut Empordà). Moreover, he also sees patients at the Institut d’Oftalmologia Clínica Girona (Oftalis), where he provides specialized care in medical retina, general ophthalmology, and cataract surgery.
