Over time, the thin and delicate skin around the eyes loses elasticity and firmness. This can lead to a tired or aged appearance, and in some cases, even reduce the visual field when excess upper eyelid skin partially covers the eye. It is also common for fat bags to appear in the lower eyelids, creating a permanently fatigued look.

Depending on the needs of each patient, cosmetic blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both, to achieve complete rejuvenation of the eye contour.

At Oftalis, we offer both the traditional technique and the most innovative option: CO₂ laser blepharoplasty.

Traditional cosmetic blepharoplasty

Traditional blepharoplasty removes excess skin and, when needed, fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids to rejuvenate the appearance.

  • In the upper eyelids, the procedure removes redundant skin, giving the eyes a more open and refreshed look.
  • In the lower eyelids, fat bags are removed or repositioned to reduce dark circles and puffiness.

Blepharoplasty can be combined with other procedures such as ptosis correction, periocular lipetomy, canthoplasty or canthopexy, or chemical peeling to enhance results.

The surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation. The ophthalmic surgeon makes incisions along the natural eyelid creases so they remain virtually invisible. Through these incisions, excess tissue is removed, muscles are adjusted, and the skin is repositioned to achieve a natural, harmonious result.
